How I love thee…my book shop

November 29, 2010 by Helena Halme 7 Comments

I know I go on…but I really am enjoying myself working in England’s Lane Books. Though it was a cold day today, and we realised half way through the day the heating was broken, I wasn’t the only person who made the shop her own.

Some of our customers have really taken us at our word and are browsing at a new level. I found this young g lady immersed in a book earlier today on our comfy sofa (who could resist it?). She said how much she ‘just loves’ the shop.

Later in the day there was another keen reader who’d found our basement a comfortable and quiet place to read a book or two. Her comment was’ ‘There’s something about bookshops I just cannot resist.’

How I agree with both of these shoppers. And the heating was swiftly fixed by a man-who-does – he just happened to pop in. As if my magic!

Both our book shops on the Island have either a tea house or a coffee shop next door, and they both created access from one to the other. Order your Latte and pull out a good book.

Dear Helena, what a lovely place to work. I used to go in there a lot. The sofa is a lovely touch. Glad you had the heating fixed in time for the snow. Hope all's good with you xx
